Replace incandescent or halogen lamps with LEDs, represents a very useful solution that allows to obtain different advantages in terms of energy saving.
The bulbs are first of all electrical devices capable of producing light and are classified according to the voltage (V) and the power absorbed by the network, expressed in Watts (W). The lumen express the degree of light emitted by the lamp.
The ratio of visible light energy emitted and absorbed electric energy you define luminous efficiency. Part of the energy generated is lost dissipated as heat or as emitted light not visible to the human eye (eg infrared or ultraviolet light).
Depending on the type of technology used we distinguish mainly 4 types of bulbs: incandescent, fluorescent, halogen and LEDs.
We see the main features of the various types of lamps and why it is good to replace the halogen lamps with LEDs.
Incandescent light bulbs
Produce light leading to incandescence, or at 2700K, a metallic filament of tungsten, through which it passes electric current, placed in a quartz or glass bulb filled with inert gases at low pressure, which are meant to prevent oxidation and to limit evaporation.
With this type of technology only 5% of energy produced is transformed into light, while the remaining 95% is given off as heat. A variant is the halogen bulbs.
The halogen bulbs
The halogen gas inside the bulb allows you to achieve a warm temperature, which increases the luminous efficacy than the classic incandescent light bulbs.
Exploiting tungsten halide, which is evaporated and which reacts with tungsten halogen gas, creating the so-called halogen cycle, which doubles the average life of halogen bulb compared to the traditional one.
In this case the light is indirect, because the issuer is not on gas but a fluorescent material. Unlike incandescent bulbs, fluorescent ones are connected to the network through an inductor which limits the input current and creates a power surge that facilitates the ignition. This device prolongs the time to achieve full brightness.
LED light bulbs
Optoelectronic devices are exploiting the optical properties of semiconductor materials to produce photons through spontaneous emission. The LEDs have an extremely high luminous efficiency and release immediately all their total light output.
Why replace the halogen bulbs with LEDs?
Led lamps are first and foremost with a particular durability to avoid continuous substitutions.
Unlike traditional halogen incandescent lighting, such as d, which tend to burn out after a certain number of hours of use or ignition, those LEDs are characterized by superior durability, able to offer a truly high level of usage. The PAULDIGO.COM says, “LED lamp is the latest type of lamps”.
Obviously, the type of lighting with led lamps, turns out to be higher than the classic type: notice how these particular lamps require little time to illuminate at the highest levels without overheating, as with conventional bulbs.
Replace the halogen bulbs with LEDs: a choice of savings
On the savings it should be noted that despite the led lamps have a slightly higher cost, such expenditure is an investment, since the consumption turn out to be much lower than that of traditional light bulbs.
Let’s take a small example: a traditional lamp 100 W corresponds to an 18 led lamp W that, over the course of a month, it will save about 35 € the electricity bill than the classic light bulb.
A 53 W halogen lamp corresponds to a 15 inch led W, and even in this case, saving is equal to about € 20 per month.
You could make a large number of examples, but the concept remains the same: with led lamps you can get great savings on the cost of the electricity bill.
Equivalence Lumen Watt
In conventional bulbs the lumen watt ratio was constant. With led technology instead the two values differ greatly among them, with a considerable decrease in Watts (thus lower fuel consumption) and increase lumen (luminous efficiency).
